Project/Client Spotlight

On Coley Forest Place in Raleigh, BCSC teamed up with DJF BUILDERS on an infill development that balanced smart design with practical site solutions. Our survey team supported the project with a full topographic survey, plot plans, construction staking, and as‑built surveys. In contrast, our engineering team prepared a mass grading plan and designed a pervious paver driveway to support effective stormwater management. A great example of collaboration and thoughtful design coming together on a tight infill site!

Industry Updates

The surveying industry heads into May with continued momentum as firms adapt to rapid advances in data capture, processing, and positioning standards. Recent conversations across the geospatial community highlight growing adoption of drone‑ and SLAM‑based LiDAR systems for faster, safer data collection in complex environments, along with expanded AI‑assisted processing tools that reduce turnaround times while improving QA/QC. At the same time, surveyors nationwide are preparing for the upcoming rollout of the modernized National Spatial Reference System (NSRS), with industry groups emphasizing training, workflow adjustments, and client communication to ensure a smooth transition as new datums move closer to formal adoption later this year.
