January is here, and we’re hitting the ground running. The new year brings fresh energy, bold goals, and a full slate of opportunities and our teams are already out in the field and in the office, turning that momentum into real progress. Bateman Civil Survey Company proudly sponsored the NCDOT OCR Highway Construction Career Day at the NC State Fairgrounds. Kristen Gibson and Margot Phaneuf brought the excitement, giving students hands‑on experiences and a look into the world of civil surveying. Their enthusiasm helped shine a spotlight on the next generation of talent and BCSC’s commitment to building North Carolina’s future workforce.

Our team also showed up strong at the Bisnow Triangle Multifamily Conference. Timothy Grissinger, Sean Hein, PLS, PE , Andrew B. Kite , and Margot Phaneuf joined developers, investors, and industry leaders to talk occupancy trends, community differentiation, and what’s ahead for the Triangle’s booming multifamily market. Their presence underscored BCSC’s role in staying connected to regional growth and the partners shaping it.

To round out the season, Andrew B. Kite and James Sanderford, PE attended the NCEDA Triangle Regional Networking Luncheon, where they connected with economic development leaders and gained insight into North Carolina’s priorities for 2026. It was the perfect way to close out a year of collaboration and step confidently into the next!

For more than six years, BCSC has partnered with Mike Kahm of Smith Douglas Homes, delivering reliable surveying support across multiple residential projects. One standout effort, Legacy Farm in Fuquay‑Varina, required full‑scope surveying services, from Construction Staking to As‑Builts to Plat preparation. The project came with its share of challenges, but BCSC stayed locked in, solving problems and keeping progress on track.

A major force behind that success is Josh Davidson, PLS. Mike calls Josh his go‑to surveyor, praising his readiness to tackle any challenge. With over 40 years in the industry, Mike says Josh is one of the best surveyors he’s ever worked with, a testament to the skill, dedication, and partnership that define BCSC.
